What a wonderful Festival we have had after a gap of two years because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Entries were slightly down but what we lacked in numbers we made up for in enthusiasm.
Covid affected us right up to the Festival itself. The day before the Festival began, the Music Adjudicator let us know she had Covid and wouldn't be able to attend. Fortunately, Gabrielle Burgin Lister stepped in and help us. A much respected music adjudicator, Gabrielle gave the choirs good feedback and lots of encouragement.
The Speech and Drama adjudicator, Maryrose Swarbrick, is a lovely person. She was so enthusiastic about the performances of both children and adults. She gave excellent advice to each and everyone of the entrants which will help them to improve their future performances.
We must thank both adjudicators for coming to Newark and making our Festival such a success.
We also need to thank the participants without whom we wouldn't have a Festival at all. Many of the children were entering a Festival for the very first time - quite a scary experience - but they all did their very best and gave us a lot of pleasure.
Our volunteers are such wonderful people. They give their time freely to help us to run the Festival and, again, without them we couldn't exist. Our thanks go to each and every one of them.
Thank you also to Barnby Road Academy and to Christchurch who very generously provided us with such good venues for our Festival this year.
Our sponsors and advertisers, who provide money towards the Festival costs, are extremely supportive of our organisation. We thank them all for their continued financial assistance.
We were so sorry that Sheila Mumby, our Festival Organiser, couldn't be with us this year. She succumbed to the dreaded Covid just as we were about to begin the Festival which meant she missed seeing the results of all her hard work over the past year. Sheila, we hope that you will soon be well again.
We are all looking forward to the Showcase on Tuesday evening and to seeing everyone again at our next Festival in 2023.
